Pre-Production GDD Work on BackWav
BackWav is a single-player arena FPS with an emphasis on style and fast-paced movement that I am currently developing on a 3 person team consisting of myself as design lead, an AI programmer, and an environment artist. BackWav is being developed as my final student project at DigiPen Institute of Technology.
A large difference between my pre-production work for BackWav compared to my former projects is the reliance and time put into pre-production design documentation. I learned a much better way to format a GDD while taking an investment design class taught by the amazing Tom Olsen, who works as an investment designer on Bungie’s Destiny 2. As the design lead on a small student project, I need to wear a lot of hats which highlights the importance of keeping organized and on track with a comprehensive GDD detailing my focuses of System, UI/UX, and Narrative, .
